NAZA and No Other Land: two films, one occupation

No Other Land filmed the people being driven from their land. NAZA films the people who chose the targets. Together, the two films by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor show both ends of the same system.

No Other Land (2024)

No Other Land was made by a Palestinian-Israeli collective of four: Basel Adra and Hamdan Ballal from Masafer Yatta, and Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor. Filmed between 2019 and 2023, it shows the destruction of Masafer Yatta, a group of Palestinian villages in the occupied West Bank that Israel declared a military firing zone.

It follows Adra as soldiers demolish homes, a school and water wells, and his friendship with Abraham, an Israeli who can come and go freely. It won the Berlinale Documentary Award, the Panorama Audience Award and the 2025 Oscar for Best Documentary Feature.

NAZA (2026)

NAZA turns the camera around. Instead of the people under attack, it films the people carrying out the attack: 24 Israeli intelligence officers and soldiers, interviewed at night on Tel Aviv rooftops, who describe how targets in Gaza were chosen and how many civilians were allowed to die with them. It is produced by The Guardian, and won the Special Jury Prize in Venice.

Victims and perpetrators

No Other Land asks the world to look at what is being done to Palestinians. NAZA shows how it is done, by whom, and how ordinary it became for them. In Venice, Abraham said that while Gaza is not the Holocaust, the films share a concern with one pattern: dehumanisation.

The price of telling it

After No Other Land, Hamdan Ballal was attacked by settlers and detained by the army in March 2025. After NAZA, Israeli ministers called for Abraham and Szor to lose their citizenship. Both films have made their makers targets, and both are essential viewing.
